According to a vast number of fans, Jon Jones is considered as one of the most exceptional fighters in UFC’s history. In 2021, he created a buzz in the combat sports world by revealing his highly anticipated return to the octagon, along with a specific goal for his comeback in MMA. He also underwent significant physical transformations in preparation for the Heavyweight division, and he recently addressed the naysayers who doubted his physique.
Jones has also been on a mission to get the kind of pay that warrants his superstardom. ‘Bones’ had planned on making his return to the UFC last year, but many things delayed his triumphant comeback.
Thankfully, Jon Jones is now set to face Ciryl Gane for the now-vacant UFC heavyweight title at UFC 285 in March. The fight announcement was followed by the news that Jon Jones signed an eight-fight deal with the UFC.
Since 2012, Jones has been hinting at his interest in moving up to the heavyweight division, creating a heightened sense of anticipation and scrutiny around his physical appearance. The wait for a glimpse of his new heavyweight physique finally ended on Wednesday, when the UFC released their customary pre-fight portraits. Jones wasted no time in responding to critics who may have expressed their opinions about his new build.
“Good thing it’s not a bodybuilding competition!” Jones wrote on Instagram Stories. “I have the strength and explosiveness of a lion right now. I can focus on leaning out better for my next fight. Most importantly, I’m 250 [pounds], still moving like a light heavyweight.”
Jones also recently looked very sharp in a training video, ahead of his upcoming fight. Now it remains to be seen whether ‘Bones’ will be able to come out on top in his upcoming fight.
