UFC president Dana White made it clear that he has no interest in any future negotiations with former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, who is currently a free agent.
While speaking during a media scrum following the UFC 285 ceremonial weigh-in, White was asked if the promotion could revisit negotiations with Ngannou to face the winner of Jon Jones vs. Ciryl Gane, White responded with a firm “No.”
White would go on to mention that they had negotiated with Ngannou for years and that “it’s over, that’s over. He’ll never be in the UFC again.” White also clarified that there would be no further communication with Ngannou going forward, stating that they had already tried.
“Yeah, I never say never, but I’ll give you a never on that one,” White said. “We tried.”
Back in January, Ngannou was released by the UFC after negotiations with the promotion stalled, ending his run with the organization that began in 2016. While Ngannou has expressed interest in returning to MMA, he is currently focused on landing a big boxing match with the likes of Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder.
