Last year, Ronda Rousey made a highly anticipated comeback during the Royal Rumble event after a nearly three-year absence from WWE. Despite winning two championships after her return, her reigns were relatively unremarkable. Unfortunately, Rousey sustained an injury during Smackdown last week, which may hinder her chances of being fully recovered in time for WrestleMania 39.
Although Ronda Rousey had initially indicated a desire to take on Charlotte Flair, her focus has since shifted to dominating the tag team division. Teaming up with Shayna Baszler, Rousey is now determined to make a significant impact in the women’s tag team scene.
As previously reported, Ronda Rousey is currently dealing with an injury. In fact, Rousey was even seen sporting a sling during last week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, as she stood ring for Shayna Baszler’s match.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about WWE’s plans for Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler. Meltzer noted that Rousey will not be 100% healed in time for WrestleMania 39.
It’s gonna be Lita and Becky Lynch. But, Rousey and Baszler are still getting the tag team title shot as has been planned all along and likely winning them. Unless, Rousey’s injury doesn’t heal. Which they are, right now, of the impression that she’s not gonna be 100% healed but the impression is that she would be ready to do the match.
While Ronda Rousey’s previous championship reigns garnered a mixed response from the WWE Universe, it seems that many fans are now content with her absence from the main event title picture. As the path to WrestleMania is always full of surprises, it is uncertain what Rousey’s future holds as a former champion.
What are your thoughts on Ronda Rousey’s injury and the changes in her WrestleMania plans? Would you prefer to see her return to the main event title picture or compete in the tag team division? Sound off in the comments!
