Ja Morant Investigated By Police In Alleged Assault Against Teenager

Ja Morant has certainly done well for him himself as many fans consider him to be one of the most exciting players in the NBA right now. Ja’s incredible dunks have helped him gain a large fan following. No matter what he does, Ja Morant always manages to make headlines. Unfortunately, Morant was investigated by police recently after allegedly assaulting a teenager.

According to TMZ Sports, Ja Morant was investigated by cops for assault after allegedly clashing with a high school student back in September. That being said, he was never charged over the incident.

According to the Germantown Police Department, the incident involving the Memphis Grizzlies’ point guard and a teenager occurred at Houston High School in Tennessee on September 22nd around 7:10 PM.

The police report states that during an after-school volleyball game, Morant’s sister, who attends Houston High School, engaged in a verbal altercation with another student. Witnesses at the scene told officers that both parties used the word “bitch” to refer to each other, which prompted Ja’s sister to inform him about the incident.

Shortly after the verbal altercation, Ja Morant, his parents, his baby daughter, and a group of adult males entered the gym together. Most of the group, excluding Ja’s father, went to confront the student in the stands who had been arguing with Ja’s sister. Ja’s mother, Jamie Morant, allegedly asked, “Which one of ya’ll called her a bitch?”

Police told Jamie that she could not confront the students and that they did not need to create a scene at the school. However, while officers were speaking with Jamie, one of the men accompanying Ja moved past them and approached the students.

According to witnesses, the man slapped a phone out of a student’s hand who was attempting to take a picture of Ja in the stands and then said, “I don’t care about none of that, I will beat y’alls ass.” A witness later claimed that the man was about to pull out a gun, although police at the scene did not observe a firearm. Eventually, everyone left the gym without further incidents.

The following day, the mother of the student involved in the argument with Ja’s sister wanted to press charges against all parties, including Ja, for harassment and intimidation. Jamie Morant also wanted to press charges against the student for threats and intimidation.

Although Ja was investigated for simple assault and intimidation, no charges were filed against him. The mother of the student stated that her son was also investigated but not charged.

The police report revealed that Kevin Helms, the head of security for the Grizzlies, went to the school to discuss the incident with the authorities. He was requested by the principal to give a verbal trespass warning to all parties involved.
