Francis Ngannou had been regarded as one of the best heavyweight fighters in the UFC for a significant amount of time. However, in March 2021, he cemented his place in UFC history by defeating Stipe Miocic and becoming the UFC Heavyweight Champion, thereby solidifying his status as one of the all-time greats. The Nigerian Nightmare left the company earlier this year and Dana White didn’t have anything good to say about that fact. Now it seems Ngannou finally reacted to White’s recent comments.
Francis Ngannou expressed feeling undervalued and disrespected as a free agent in the UFC. He revealed turning down a lucrative offer from the organization to pursue better contract negotiations, as he believed his accomplishments and contributions were not being adequately recognized. Ultimately, this led to his decision to sever ties with the UFC.
As previously reported, Francis Ngannou officially parted ways with the UFC. Right after that, Dana White claimed that Ngannou turned down a contract that would have made history in the UFC.
In fact, Ngannou was offered Brock Lesnar-level of money. The UFC President also recently stated that Francis Ngannou is no longer welcome in the UFC after his exit from the promotion.
While speaking with ESPN‘s Brett Okamoto, Francis Ngannou reacted to Dana White’s recent comment about his exit. Ngannou stated that regardless of what Dana White may have said, the decision to part ways was entirely his own. He further asserted that White should make his own peace with the situation, as Ngannou had already come to terms with it and moved on.
“Hey, I don’t care what Dana White say. That was my call, not his call. So, he has to make his own amends with that. I made my amends, I’m good so wish him to do the same.”
Francis Ngannou also shot down claims that he ran away from fighting Jon Jones. Only time will tell whether The Nigerian fighter will find success in other avenues of his profession. Till then, we will have to wait and see what he will do next.
