Jon Jones made a triumphant return to the octagon with a dominant first-round submission win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 last weekend. The victory immediately sparked rumors of a potential bout with former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, which Jones himself called out after the fight.

While speaking on the topic, UFC President Dana said he wouldn’t be surprised if Jones fights Stripe and then doesn’t return to the octagon to fight ever again.

“I wouldn’t be shocked either if he fights Stipe and then retires and doesn’t fight again.”

Jones’ potential retirement talk was definitely a surprising topic, especially as White was discussing the potential outcome of a fight between Jones and Francis Ngannou. According to White, Ngannou’s UFC 270 fight against Gane proved that ‘The Predator’ wouldn’t have had much of a chance against Jones.

“Let me tell you what I think. A lot of other people feel this way. I think that’s exactly the way the fight would’ve gone if [Ngannou] was in there, too.”

Jones was on hiatus for three years before making his return to the octagon last week. His dominant performance against Gane demonstrated that he has lost none of his skills during his absence.

Fans will have to wait and see if Jones decides to retire after his potential fight against Miocic.
