Tyson Fury is viewed as the undisputed GOAT of professional boxing for good reason. He will be squaring off against Oleksandr Usyk in an upcoming boxing match. Now it seems the two have closed a deal on their upcoming undisputed fight.
According to Fight Freaks Unite, Heavyweight titleholders Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk have reached tentative a deal on a unification fight. The breakthrough in negotiations between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury was due to Usyk’s willingness to accept Fury’s demand of receiving 30 percent of the revenue, something that Usyk had initially resisted.
WBA President Jesus Mendoza confirmed on Friday that the representatives of both boxers had reached an agreement, although the contracts were still being finalized.
Reports suggest that the WBA officials had grown frustrated with the lengthy negotiations between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, and were planning to order Usyk to make his mandatory defense against Daniel DuBois. Usyk currently holds the IBF, WBA, and WBO titles, while Fury is the WBC champion.
However, if the negotiations between Usyk and Fury are successfully concluded, the winner of their fight would make history by becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the era of four-belt championships.
“It seems Usyk versus Fury will happen. There is an agreement between Usyk and Fury. They will provide a contract and dates. They are basically saying an agreement has been reached. let’s work on the contracts.”
While the fighters had originally planned to have their fight on April 29th, this date is no longer applicable anymore due to a multitude of reasons. The belief is that the fight will likely take place in June or later. However, no specific date for the bout has been announced just yet.
The mega fight is expected to take place in Wembley Stadium in London. We’ll have to see when the boxing match will finally take place. Till then, keep checking back at Thirsty For News for all your needs!
