Selena Gomez appears to be over the TikTok controversy involving Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber. However it now seems like her admirers aren’t done with it yet: Fans have flocked to support the Only Murders in the Building star, resulting in her gaining 10.5 million Instagram followers. Jenner, on the other side, has lost over 500,000 followers.
Gomez had 380,644,778 followers on Instagram on February 22, the day she dethroned Jenner as the most followed woman. As of 12 p.m. EST on March 1, she has 391,143,710 followers, having acquired 10,498,932 followers through TikTok’s #teamselena, a hashtag with over 269.6 million views.
Jenner on the other hand has lost about 500,000 followers. The Daily Mail claimed she lost an estimated 1 million followers but her profile shows she has 1 million fewer followers than before. Jenner had 380,425,729 followers when she became Instagram’s second most followed woman. She now has 379,938,969 fans, or nearly 380 million. That’s a disparity of exactly 486,760 followers. So, while Jenner has lost followers, she has not lost a staggering million of them.
When Jenner and Hailey Bieber were accused of slamming Gomez’s self-described over-laminated brows on their Instagram Stories, in the tip-of-the-iceberg TikTok incident that has triggered an avalanche of fans pouring over years of questionable potential “mean girl bullying” interactions, Gomez and Jenner shut down the drama. Jenner denied aiming at Gomez’s brows, adding, “This is reaching. No shade towards Selena ever and I didn’t see her eyebrow posts! U guys are making something out of nothing. This is silly.”
Gomez briefly left TikTok in response to all of the fan and media attention her additional TikTok comments about bullying received. Although she has since reactivated her account and is active on Instagram, she told fans before leaving TikTok that she was too old for this drama. Keep an eye on Thirsty for the most latest updates.
