New York Jets Trying To Sign Aaron Rodgers’ Receiver Amid Quarterback Trade Rumors

Aaron Rodgers is widely regarded as one of the most exceptional quarterbacks in the NFL due to his outstanding abilities on the field. His contributions as the Green Bay Packers quarterback speaks for themselves. That being said, it seems the New York Jets are trying to sign his receiver amid rumors of Rodgers getting traded.

After his isolation retreat was over, the NFL star was recently spotted having a good time at the club. Aaron Rodgers made a public announcement that he would be entering a darkness retreat to help him make a decision about his future in the NFL.

As previously reported, Aaron Rodgers could be leaving the Green Bay Packers and joining the New York Jets. This is because Rodgers is open to the idea of joining the New York Jets.

According to a report by ESPN‘s Adam Schefter, the New York Jets are “actively working to reach an agreement” with free agent wide receiver Allen Lazard. This is taking place amid reports that they are the favorite to acquire his former quarterback Aaron Rodgers in a trade with the Green Bay Packers.

“Jets are actively working to reach an agreement with Packers’ free-agent WR Allen Lazard, per league sources. There is another team involved, and no final decision, but the Jets are trying to reunite Lazard and OC Nathaniel Hacket.”

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the move is connected to Rodgers, who has been Lazard’s quarterback with the Packers throughout the receiver’s five-year NFL career. However, the Jets reportedly “like the player in their offense regardless of the QB.”

As per Schefter’s report, Hazard had a total of 168 receptions for 2,216 yards and 19 touchdowns from Aaron Rodgers. On March 13, former long-time ESPN anchor Trey Wing claimed that he had heard that a deal was in place for Rodgers to join the New York Jets. However, both Schefter and Ian Rapoport from NFL Network denied that any official agreement had been made.

Last offseason Rodgers inked a three-year, $150 million contract extension with the Packers. This is despite earlier reports of being unhappy with the team. At the time, the 39-year-old quarterback had just completed back-to-back MVP seasons. However, the 2022 NFL season saw Green Bay fail to make the playoffs for the first time in four years.
