Aaron Rodgers is widely considered one of the most exceptional quarterbacks in the NFL due to his outstanding performance on the field. The evidence of his contributions as the quarterback for the Green Bay Packers is clear. That being said, it seems Rodgers has finally confirmed that he wants to play for The New York Jets.
Following the end of his isolation retreat, the NFL star was seen enjoying himself at a club. Aaron Rodgers had previously made a public statement regarding his entry into a darkness retreat to aid him in making a decision about his future in the NFL.
As previously reported, there was speculation that Aaron Rodgers may depart from the Green Bay Packers and potentially join the New York Jets, as he appeared to be open to the idea.
In fact, the New York Jets were trying to sign Aaron Rodgers’ receiver Allen Lazard in a bid to get Rodgers as well. Rodgers made a surprise appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on March 15th.
During his appearance, Rodgers stated that while his appearance was not to announce any decision, he confirmed that he plans to play for the Jets in the upcoming season. This is assuming the Packers are able to negotiate a trade.
“Since Friday I made it clear that my intention was to play and my intention was to play for the New York Jets.”
The announcement did not come as a shock, as the Packers and Jets have been in discussions about a potential trade for over a week. However, it was the first time that the 39-year-old quarterback confirmed his intentions publicly since rumors began circulating prior to the start of the NFL’s legal tampering period.
Now, both Rodgers and the rest of the NFL will have to wait for the Packers and Jets to come to an agreement on suitable compensation before the trade can be completed. We’ll have to see if they will be able to negotiate an agreement.
