Conor McGregor is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the history of the world of MMA – perhaps the biggest. He is responsible for the majority of the UFC’s most successful PPV buys as well. He is also starring in the ‘Road House’ movie and it seems McGregor refused to use a stunt double for an interesting reason.
While McGregor has been away from the MMA world for well over a year now, he has kept himself busy in various ways. The Notorious One is set to make his acting debut in a remake of Patrick Swayze’s 1989 classic, Road House.
He will be sharing the screen with Jake Gyllenhaal, a Golden Globe awardee. The filming also features Jay Hieron, a former UFC fighter, and a scene was recently shot during the ceremonial weigh-ins for UFC 285.
Apart from UFC President Dana White, Jon Anik, a play-by-play commentator, other employees of UFC events, and fans who were present also participated in the filming of the much-awaited movie.
While speaking to Robbie Fox of My Mom’s Basement, Conor McGregor talked about his upcoming role in Road House. McGregor revealed that he refused to use a stunt double for the film because he is vain.
“I was doing my own stunts. I might be a vain motherf***** because I looked at the stunt double and [I felt like], ‘That motherf****** doesn’t look like me.’ I thought he was a nice guy, very nice people… but I don’t know. I couldn’t let him do anything
While McGregor’s role in the film is a mystery, it is evident he will have a significant role in the film. We will have to wait and see whether McGregor’s acting chops will be up to the mark, whenever the film releases.
