Conor McGregor is a legendary figure in the world of MMA and undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the history of the sport. He has achieved unprecedented success in his career, both inside and outside the octagon. McGregor is also set to face Michale Chandler in his return fight and now it seems McGregor thinks he is too slick and skilled for Michael Chandler.
Conor McGregor previously revealed that he will not be making his return to the UFC as a lightweight. That being said, it’s likely he is returning this year. In fact, McGregor will make his return to the octagon to face Michael Chandler.
The 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter, which commenced filming a few weeks back, has revealed McGregor and Chandler as coaches. Once the season concludes, McGregor and Chandler will face each other in the octagon.
While speaking to Robbie Fox of My Mom’s Basement, Conor McGregor talked about his upcoming opponent. The Notorious claimed that he is too slick and skilled for Michael Chandler.
McGregor has faced opponents with a similar style to Chandler’s, which he describes as the mixed martial arts style with a short wrestler, and feels that it is a common and familiar style in MMA.
“For Chandler, I’m just too slick for him. I’m too skilled for him and he’s not fought someone like me. I’ve fought someone like him though. It’s the mixed martial arts style. The short wrestler, it’s just kind of MMA, isn’t it? It ain’t nothing peculiar or unsure of. I’ve fought against that style many, many years.
Michael, obviously, he was with a smaller promotion and then he worked his way up this fast. He’s had some excellent fights and he’s earned his right to be in this position, but it’ll be my job now on fight night to show the level and show there’s a much higher difference in skill level here and that’s it so I’m excited to get going.”
McGregor has not fought since July 11th, 2021. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether McGregor will be able to win his comeback fight, as a lot of expectations are on him right now. Keep checking back at Thirsty For News for more.
