Kanye West’s name is no stranger to controversial headlines. Whether it’s for his remarks against Jewish people or his White Lives Matter movement, Ye always finds a way into the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Again, Kanye’s name was in the headlines for an incident that involved the paparazzo.
TMZ is reporting that West will not face any charges for grabbing and throwing a photographer’s phone. The Ventura Co. District Attorney’s Office Wednesday revealed that the phone suffered minor damage with most of the damage taking place to the $30 case around the device. The female paparazzo refused to press charges against Ye.
Back in January, Ye was filmed grabbing and throwing the photographer’s phone into the street close to a facility where his daughter North was playing basketball. The incident took place after West asked the paps in the video not to film him while he was trying to spend some time with his kids.
A few weeks following the incident, Kanye was seen outside the West Hollywood Sheriff’s department where he asked deputies to take care of the paps following him.
Kanye West seems to have avoided yet another legal entanglement after grabbing and throwing a paparazzo’s phone. While his actions were certainly aggressive, the paparazzo declined to press charges, resulting in no legal consequences for the rapper.
However, this incident once again highlights the ongoing tensions between celebrities and the paparazzi. It raises the question of whether there is a way to find a balance between respecting celebrities’ privacy while still allowing the media to cover their public lives.
