Christina Ricci has been in Hollywood since she was ten years old. She made a name for herself thanks to her portrayal as Wednesday Addams in the Addams Family film series. Ricci was also a sex symbol for many and it seems she was once threatened with a lawsuit if she did not do an intimate scene a certain way.
While speaking to The View, Christina Ricci recently opened up about how the entertainment industry has changed over the years. The 43-year-old actress shared a personal experience that highlights the differences in the industry today compared to when she was younger.
Ricci revealed that when she was a younger actress, she was once threatened with a lawsuit because she refused to do a sex scene in a particular way. She did not provide any further details about the incident or who was involved.
However, Ricci did note that things are different for the younger generation of actors and actresses coming up in the industry. They now have more agency and can make their own choices about what they are comfortable with on set.
“It’s really great. Us older ladies talk about it all the time. It’s amazing to see that they don’t necessarily have to go through the things we had to go through. They’re able to say, ‘I don’t want to do this sex scene,’ ‘I’m not going to be naked.
They can set boundaries for themselves, we were never able to do. Someone threatened to sue me once because I didn’t want to do a sex scene in a certain way. It’s really changed.”
The #MeToo movement has brought attention to issues of sexual harassment and assault in the entertainment industry, leading to more awareness and advocacy for actors and actresses to have a safe and respectful working environment. The industry has also seen an increase in the use of intimacy coordinators to ensure that actors are comfortable and safe during sex scenes.
Ricci’s comments suggest that progress has been made in the industry. However, there is still more work to be done to ensure that all actors and actresses feel empowered to make choices that align with their personal comfort levels.
