Jon Jones’ title as the GOAT is well-deserved, despite his controversial personal life. Jones did the impossible and won the Heavyweight title at UFC 285. He’ll be defending his title against Stipe Miocic and now it seems the date for the fight has seemingly been confirmed by Stipe Miocic.
UFC president Dana White subsequently announced that Jones will defend his title against Stipe Miocic. Jones himself appeared confident and resolute in taking on the upcoming challenge.
As previously reported, Jon Jones stated that the likely date for his fight against Stipe Miocic would be during International Fight Week, at UFC 290 in July.
However, the fight was in jeopardy after Jon Jones took to Twitter and demanded that Stipe Miocic “stop wasting everyone’s time” as Jones was clearly very serious about making the fight happen.
Yo @stipemiocic only you the UFC and I know the truth, you dodged me all of 2022 – July, September & December. Now I’m hearing rumors that we may not be fighting this July.
It did not take long until Stipe Miocic decided to reply to Jon Jones, as the Heavyweight veteran seemingly confirmed that they will square off against each other on July 8th during International Fight Week.
See you in July.
Stipe Miocic has not fought in the Octagon since his 2021 loss at the hands of Francis Ngannou. We will have to wait and see whether Jon Jones will successfully retain his title against Stipe Miocic.
