Amanda Bynes Hospitalized After 911 Call Following Psychotic Episode

Amanda Bynes, a former child star who rose to fame on Nickelodeon’s “All That” and “The Amanda Show”, has been struggling with mental health issues for over a decade. The 36-year-old actress has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and manic depression and was previously placed under conservatorship for nine years since 2013. It looks like her mental health issues have cropped up again.

Amanda Bynes has been hospitalized under a psychiatric hold after she was found wandering the street of Los Angeles naked and alone. According to TMZ, an eyewitness said that Bynes stopped a car early on Sunday morning before informing the driver that she was having a psychotic episode.

The former child star then dialed 911 on herself and was taken to a nearby police station where a team of mental health professionals decided that she needed to be placed on a 5150 psych hold. This means that she will be detained for up to 72 hours to see if she is a danger to herself or others.

Bynes will reportedly remain in a hospital and will receive treatment for several days. A source close to the situation mentioned that Bynes wasn’t hurt in the ordeal, but noted that things could’ve been much worse considering the area where she was found.

This incident took place exactly a year after Amanda Bynes’ nine conservatorship was officially terminated by a judge. Bynes’ mother was her conservator since 2013 when she experienced a series of episodes that included her setting fire to a neighbor’s driveway.
