The Weeknd’s fame in the music industry has reached unimaginable heights. His unique fusion of R&B, pop, and electronic music has earned him a devoted international following. With that being said, The Weeknd is now being determined as the “statistically the most popular musician on the planet.”
Guinness World Records has confirmed that The Weeknd now holds two new titles as announced on Monday. He has achieved the record for having the highest number of monthly listeners on Spotify, currently at 111.4 million as of Monday. He also has become the first artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners on the platform.
Miley Cyrus comes in second place with 82.4 million listeners. Cyrus is followed by Shakira with 81.6 million, Ariana Grande with 80.6 million, Taylor Swift with 80.2 million, Rihanna with 78.5 million, and Ed Sheeran with 77.5 million.
However, The Weeknd has recently released several new projects. This month saw the release of his HBO Max Live at SoFi Stadium special, a live album with the same name, and a deluxe version of Starboy with three extra remixes. A new rendition of “Die for You” featuring Grande was one of those remixes.
The Weeknd will also star in and co-create the new drama series The Idol, which will premiere later this year. Keep an eye on Thirsty For News to get the latest updates regarding The Weeknd.
