WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is widely recognized as one of the greatest professional wrestlers to have ever stepped inside the squared circle. Nevertheless, he didn’t always enjoy the same level of success, as Austin first appeared in the WWE as the Ringmaster. In fact, Austin believes working with Cena would have been special.
Throughout his career, Stone Cold Steve Austin faced off against some of the most iconic wrestlers in WWE history. From his legendary battles with The Rock to his intense rivalries with Triple H and Mick Foley, Austin was always at the forefront of the company’s biggest storylines. However, despite all of his success and accolades there was one wrestler that he never had the chance to square off against – John Cena.
For years, fans have wondered what a match between the two legendary superstars would look like. Both men were known for their larger-than-life personas, their incredible in-ring skills, and their ability to connect with audiences on a visceral level. Cena, in particular, was often compared to Austin for his ability to get fans invested in his feuds and his unwavering dedication to the business.
Now, in a recent interview on the Out of Character podcast, Stone Cold Steve Austin has finally revealed his thoughts on the matter. Speaking to Ryan Satin, Austin stated that he would have loved to work with John Cena and that he holds the Cenation Leader in high regard.
“God man, Working with him would’ve been a highlight and I had a bunch of highlights and it would’ve been a real special thing because there’s something about John that people get so invested in his matches. He’s a very special talent. It would’ve been great to have a match with him but will it ever happen? No. But I think very highly of John.”
That being said, Austin made it clear that he has not heard anything about an appearance at WrestleMania 39. We’ll have to see if he will compete at the Show of Shows.
