WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is widely recognized as one of the greatest professional wrestlers to have ever stepped inside the squared circle. He retired almost two decades ago and made several appearances on WWE television, but never competed. That changed at WrestleMania 38 where he faced off against Kevin Owens. Now it seems he does not rule out making an in-ring return.
What began as a discussion on the “KO Show” escalated into a full-blown match when Kevin Owens challenged Austin to a No Holds Barred contest. Austin, who had not wrestled since his defeat at the hands of The Rock at WrestleMania XIX in 2003, accepted the challenge.
After this, fans wondered whether The Texas Rattlesnake will ever compete again inside the ring. Steve Austin had teased returning to the ring ahead of WrestleMania 39 by uploading a series of videos of him working out.
That being said, Steve Austin ended up rejecting plans for him to square off against Brock Lesnar at the Show of Shows this year. Due to this, Lesnar will now be facing off against Omos.
While speaking to Out of Character with Ryan Satin, the WWE Hall Of Famer was asked about possibly returning to the ring for one more match. Austin made it clear that he does not rule out another match.
“Well, never say never. If the stars align again, hell, I mean, it could happen again, right?”
Austin’s willingness to come out of retirement shows that, for the right opportunity, anything is possible in the world of professional wrestling. That being said, Austin made it clear that he has not heard anything about an appearance at WrestleMania 39. We’ll have to see if he will compete at the Show of Shows.
