Drake is a veteran musician and is well aware of how desirable he really is when it matters. However, Drake and 21 Savage’s It’s All a Blur Tour recently made multiple headlines for their immensely high ticket price. With that being said, a class-action lawsuit has recently been filed against Ticketmaster over the prices.
The Toronto Star reports that a Montreal man has accused Ticketmaster of price gouging. He claimed that he purchased two “Official Platinum” seats for Drake’s July 14 show at Canada’s Bell Centre for $789.54 each, but the price for the same seats dropped to $350 the next day after the announcement of a second show.
According to the lawsuit filed by LPC Advocat Inc., Ticketmaster is accused of “intentionally misleads consumers for their own financial gain.” The lawsuit claims that the company knew Drake would perform twice in Montreal but purposefully “concealed this information” in order to “squeeze” money from fans.
However, in order for the lawsuit to qualify as a class-action complaint, LPC Advocat needs the Quebec Superior Court to give its approval. If it approves, the lawsuit will demand $300 in punitive damages for each attendee who joins the suit as well as compensatory damages. According to the suit,
“Ticketmaster unilaterally decides which tickets it advertises and sells as ‘Official Platinum’ based on a given event.
The result is that most, if not all, of the tickets advertised and sold as ‘Official Platinum’ are neither ‘premium tickets’ nor ‘some of the best seats in the house’ and are, in fact, just regular tickets sold by Ticketmaster at an artificially inflated premium in bad faith.”
The lawsuit follows Drake’s decision to add 14 more dates to his summer tour with 21 Savage due to the high demand for tickets. Keep an eye on Thirsty For News to get the latest updates regarding the ongoing legal case.
