Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis made multiple headlines last month for fighting over child support issues, while their divorce was clearly going on. However, Wilde is now accusing Sudeikis of trying to “litigate her into debt” in their ongoing battle.
According to Daily Mail, Wilde’s attorneys are concerned about the cost and time required to continue with the legal proceedings. They claimed that her ex-partner Jason Sudeikis can have more resources to continue filing legal motions but Wilde cannot.
“While Jason can afford to spin his wheels with filing after filing, Olivia cannot.
Jason seems intent on throwing whatever he can against the wall to see what will stick, and this Request for Order seeking a stay of the California Parentage action is just the latest example.”
According to reports by TMZ, the judge’s decision ultimately worked in Wilde’s favor. The judge stated that the former couple’s legal battle over Otis and Daisy should continue in California rather than New York.
According to the outlet, the “Don’t Worry Darling” singer further charged the “Ted Lasso” actor with being “underhanded” and acting “in bad faith” regarding the future of their children by using “intimidation or trickery” to win.
While Sudeikis was determined to have the children return to Brooklyn, Wilde fought to keep them in Los Angeles. The “O.C.” alum argued that since Otis only spent one semester of kindergarten in the Empire State and Daisy never attended a school there, there was no reason for the kids to reside on the East Coast.
“Jason should not be permitted to litigate Olivia into debt, and then claim she should be deprived of her right to seek a needs-based fee contribution from him,” her attorneys wrote.
The “House” alum stated in the document that up until the “Horrible Bosses” actor allegedly blindsided her, she thought she and the other party were headed towards an amicable resolution.
“We were scheduled to start working with a family therapist in California in mid-January. I thought things were calming down and were going to move forward in a more amicable, respectful fashion,” Wilde stated.
Instead I learned .. that the entire time I was negotiating the parenting time schedule in California [Jason] was plotting to proceed with the New York Child Support proceeding behind my back.”
People thought that the two’s relationship had improved after Wilde and Sudeikis were photographed embracing each other in January. However, the two have reportedly been at odds since Sudeikis served Wilde with custody papers while she was presenting at CinemaCon in April 2022.
