Sheryl Lee Ralph gained fame for her roles in movies like Moesha, Its A Living, and Instant Mom. However, she has recently courageously shared a shocking incident of being sexually assaulted by a well-known television judge years ago.
Lee Ralph has recently appeared in an interview on the “Way Up With Angela Yee” podcast where she revealed terrifying details of the incident. Although several network executives allegedly saw the incident, Ralph claimed that they begged her not to report it out of concern for “bad press.”
“This man walked in, grabbed me by the back of my neck, turned me around and rammed his nasty-a** tongue down my throat, and everybody at the network saw it.
I’m at a very public place. I was suited. I was handling my business for the television show I was then, but we were on the same network.”
The “Abbott Elementary” star did not disclose the name of the accused person. However, she made clear that it was not Judge Greg Mathis and called him “a great man.”
Ralph asked Marc Morial, a former mayor of New Orleans to report the incident. She noted that Morial immediately defended her and offered to send the police to deal with the matter and ensure her safety.
Although Morial supported her, Ralph’s efforts to hold her alleged assaulter accountable were thwarted when a network representative approached her and requested that she stay silent about the incident to prevent negative publicity. Ralph recalled the incident and expressed her dissatisfaction with the network. She explained how the network downplayed the incident’s seriousness.
“They did not want any bad press around their show and did not care what just happened to me.
It’s not that bad. Please don’t say anything; we don’t need the bad press; it’s a brand new show. Yours is a new show.”
Ralph also shared that she had been sexually assaulted by a stranger, which left her feeling violated and questioning her clothing choices. She was wearing a knee-length skirt and a sweater blouse, but still she was subjected to unwanted physical contact by an unknown man.
Ralph expressed disbelief and frustration at the man’s actions, stating that he had no right to touch her body without her consent. Ralph confronted her assaulter years after the incident but received a negative response from those around her, who told her to be ashamed of herself for bringing it up.
“They told me that I should be ashamed of myself, and why would I even bring that up at the dinner table.”
Ralph hopes that her story will inspire other survivors of sexual assault to speak up and stand up for themselves. Keep an eye on Thirsty For News to get the latest updates.
