Wendy Williams has reportedly scrapped her podcast project, The Wendy Experience, before it even hit the airwaves. A source close to the former talk show host told The U.S. Sun that the 58-year-old star claimed that “there is no podcast” and that she has her sights set on a TV comeback.
“It’s strange, because she is saying there is no podcast, but is also telling people she’s going to return to TV. It’s hard to figure out what is based in reality,” an insider told the publication.
The news about her podcast gained traction after she launched an Instagram page for the show and it was reported that she planned to record the episodes at her her lavish $4.5 million penthouse in New York City.
Her manager, Will Selby, disclosed that the podcast wasn’t going to be a “traditional podcast” as it would feature a video element that would capture Williams’ daily life.
“Wendy says podcast, but she doesn’t elaborate that it’s not going to be a traditional podcast, this is going to be a full podcast show,” Selby shared. “I feel like Wendy is a complete experience, that’s why the name of her show was ‘The Wendy Williams Experience.’”
Selby added, “I want to shoot everything in her home. I want to get the full Wendy experience- everything from filming in her glam room or shooting in her kitchen with her favorite chefs as they prepare food for her and her guests. I want Wendy to feel like she could be as open and honest as possible and I want everything to be at her home.”
Selby also pointed out that the video aspect of the show would allow fans to see Williams in a more personal way.
This news comes after Williams was recently spotted at a gay bar in New York City, raising alarm among her fans who know about her past struggles with alcohol and drug addiction. A source told Page Six that her drinking issue has worsened after a conflict with her show’s production company Debmar-Mercury, who allegedly denied her the help she needed.
“They turned their backs on her,” a source claimed. “They had too much control over someone so vulnerable.”
Williams’ former husband also blamed the company for neglecting her.
“Debmar would not support Wendy’s recovery efforts with the family,” Hunter told the news outlet. “They would not sign off on anything that would’ve helped her recovery efforts.”
Fans are worried about her health after she was spotted exiting a New City building in a confused state and flaunting her slim figure. According to the Daily Mail, Williams, who suffers from several medical conditions such as lymphedema and Graves’ disease, talked to the photographers..
“I went to the doctor and I weigh 138, pretty right?” She said while making her way into the restaurant, Fresco By Scotto.
Given that she has recently been in rehab, her latest binge drinking has many people fearing for her health. Keep following Thirsty For News for more updates on this story.
