Jorge Masvidal has little to no love for Colby Covington and it shows. Masvidal’s March 2022 loss to Covington has had a great impact on him and as a result, he finds every way to throw jabs at him. This time during an interview with Ariel Helwani, Jorge went on a cursing spree aimed at Colby.
Gamebred was on MMA Fighting’s “The MMA Hour” on Monday. During his interview with Ariel Helwani, the former two-time challenger for the 170-pound belt lost his temper. He is obviously upset that Colby will get a chance to fight for Leon Edwards’ belt.
“History says one thing — whoever makes the most noise when they fight, whoever f****** sells the most pay-per-views, and whoever fans want to see at the end of the day, that’s who’ll get the title shot on top of it. As I recall, champions have always called the shots, and Colby is only a champion of calling the cops, that c***-sucking b****, p****-ass motherf*****.”
UFC president Dana White anointed Colby Covington as the next contender for the welterweight belt. It is following the trilogy win of Leon over Kamaru Usman at UFC 286. White’s announcement bizarrely preempted Masvidal’s upcoming bout against Gilbert Burns on April 8 at UFC 287.
In a series of curses, Masvidal calls out Cobly for being a “c***-sucking b****, p****-ass motherf*****,” and then goes off about his plans. Gamebred has his plans set on toppling his next opponent, Burns, and then moving on to fight Edwards. He has also hinted at a rematch between him and Colby after he eventually grabs the belt.
“So I’m just going to continue to do me. I’m going to go out there and break f****** Gilbert’s face, and then Leon is going call my name out and then we’ll go fight Leon for this belt, and that’s it. Then Colby can just sit in the timeout box until I call his a** up to fight me again.”
Covington and Masvidal were former teammates and close friends. However, they currently have the position of ferocious rivals. In addition to their official cage fight at UFC 272, Covington and Masvidal will also square off in a courtroom.
Masvidal is surely very bitter about his last loss to Colby however he is aiming to win fights in and outside the ring. Surprisingly, current champion Leon Edwards has hinted that he may refuse to sign the contract. If that’s the case we might be onto an interesting saga in UFC.
