A close pal of the late superstar Matthew Perry spilled the beans to Entertainment Tonight about the sensational movie plot that Perry had cooking before his untimely departure.

Snapshots captured Athenna Crosby, who had a heart-to-heart with the “Friends” legend just one day before his tragic passing. According to Crosby, Perry was radiating with zest for life and had his sights set on a blockbuster biopic that would shine a spotlight on his journey from the abyss of addiction to redemption.

“He was all about making a movie about his rollercoaster life,” Crosby dished.

What’s even more mind-blowing is Perry’s master plan to have none other than heartthrob Zac Efron portray him in the flick. Yep, you heard it right, folks! Perry, who previously shared the screen with Efron in the 2009 gem “17 Again,” had his sights set on the “High School Musical” sensation to step into his shoes once again. Perry was all set to pop the question to Efron and make his celluloid dreams come true.

Crosby went on to reveal that the actor was not only stoked about his upcoming cinematic endeavor but was also on a mission to champion the cause of addiction recovery and touch more lives with his inspiring journey.

“Matthew was beaming with optimism and enthusiasm about all the incredible things he was planning,” Crosby gushed.

Now, you might be wondering what Zac Efron has to say about this electrifying proposal, but Insider couldn’t get a peep out of his camp, even after working hours. Mysterious, right?

Perry had previously dished about his cinematic aspirations during the promo run for his memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” He spilled the beans to SiriusXM’s Jessica Shaw, confessing that he had penned a role tailor-made for himself, only to realize he’d aged out of it.

In a shocking twist, Perry’s top pick for the role was none other than Zac Efron, but Efron reportedly turned him down flat. Looks like we’re in for a Hollywood hunt to find the one who’ll say “yes.”

Perry’s tragic end came when he was discovered unresponsive in his home’s hot tub on Saturday, October 28. The exact cause of this heartbreaking loss remains a mystery as autopsy results have left us hanging.

As we remember the iconic Chandler Bing from “Friends,” who graced our screens for a whopping 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004, clips of his legendary moments continue to flood social media, a fitting tribute to the star we’ll never forget.

Given the intriguing movie plot idea that Matthew Perry had in mind and his wish to have Zac Efron portray him, who do you think would be an ideal actor to play Matthew Perry in a biopic about his life and journey? Share your casting choices and thoughts in the comments below!
