Former “Dancing With the Stars” host, Tom Bergeron, has made it crystal clear: he’s not making a comeback to the popular dance competition show.
During an interview on the “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” podcast, Bergeron emphatically stated that there’s absolutely no chance he’d return to the show that he once helmed.
Bergeron shared his perspective, saying, “I look at the math of it and 95% of my experience was really quite wonderful.” However, he quickly added, “The show that I left was not the show that I loved.” It’s apparent that he felt a significant shift in the show’s dynamics.
When asked directly if he’d consider returning, Bergeron’s response was unequivocal: “No, never.” He elaborated on his decision, explaining that the show has evolved considerably since his departure, and there’s no point in him returning. “I did it for a lot of years. You know, there’s no point. What would I prove?” he pondered.
Tom Bergeron parted ways with “Dancing With the Stars” in 2020, and it seems he has firmly closed that chapter of his life.
Interestingly, there was a time when Bergeron hinted at the possibility of a return. During a September 2022 episode of the “Burke in the Game” podcast, he had left a door slightly ajar, saying, “Let’s just say we’ll cross that bridge should it be in front of us.” However, that bridge might have been crossed sooner than expected.
In a surprising turn of events, former host Tyra Banks was replaced, and Julianne Hough joined Alfonso Ribeiro in the ballroom. It’s uncertain if Bergeron was ever approached to make a comeback.
Tom Bergeron isn’t the only former “DWTS” cast member who has sworn off returning to the show. Former ballroom pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy also expressed his reluctance.
In an exclusive interview with Heavy, Chmerkovskiy made it clear that he’s leaving that part of his life behind. He acknowledged the greatness of the show and the wonderful people involved but emphasized his love for the original version of the show, expressing views similar to Bergeron’s.
While he won’t physically participate, Chmerkovskiy noted his connection through family members who are still part of the show, such as his wife, brother, and sister-in-law, who are all competing in season 32.
However, it seems that even Maks Chmerkovskiy couldn’t resist the allure of the dance floor entirely. He participated in the Len Goodman tribute dance during the October 24, 2023, episode, proving that “Dancing With the Stars” still has a special place in his heart, even if he’s content being in the audience.
Given Tom Bergeron’s clear stance on not returning to “Dancing With the Stars,” do you think the show would ever be the same without his hosting? Leave us a comment below.
