Jorge Masvidal has worked hard to make a name for himself in the world of MMA. He is also known for riling up people with his comments all the time. Masvidal also pleaded guilty to a charge against him after assaulting Colby Covington, but he won’t be jailed.
The rivalry between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal is something many MMA fans know well by now. The two were once close friends and trained together at the same place. However, they eventually started hating each other.
Back in March last year, Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington were involved in a fight at a Miami club. It was said that Covington suffered fractured teeth and abrasions on his wrist. As previously reported, Masvidal was arrested on aggravated assault charges.
Jorge Masvidal also pleaded not guilty to his aggravated assault charges after attacking Colby Covington. According to MMA Fighting, Masvidal pled guilty to misdemeanor battery as part of a plea deal with prosecutors, as his other felony charges were dropped over the assault case.
Masvidal faced multiple felony charges including aggravated battery and criminal mischief, which could have seen him being jailed for 15 years. However, Masvidal was sentenced to time served and he will be responsible for paying court fees attached to the case but he will not be jailed. Therefore, his ordeal with the Colby Covington case has now come to an end.
