UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley isn’t holding back when it comes to his predictions for 2024. The “Suga Show” is gearing up for his first title defense, a rematch with Marlon Vera scheduled for March, and he’s aiming for the stars.

O’Malley, who secured the bantamweight title with a knockout victory over Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 in August, believes that if he can defeat the tough and durable Vera, he’ll skyrocket into superstardom.

In an interview on “The MMA Hour,” O’Malley boldly declared, “I will be the biggest name in sports.” He’s setting his sights high, planning to go 2-0 in 2024 and win in spectacular fashion. He made it clear that he doesn’t want to deliver boring performances like the one between Vera and Pedro Munhoz, which he found lackluster. Instead, O’Malley is determined to make a mark with his fights.

Reflecting on his lone career loss, which came to Vera in August 2020, O’Malley referred to it as a fluke, attributing it to a kick that hit his peroneal nerve, leading to a TKO finish by ground-and-pound.

Confident in his abilities, O’Malley believes the rematch will prove that he’s the superior fighter. He emphasized that the fight isn’t personal for him, but he’s open to the possibility of it becoming personal depending on the buildup. For now, it’s all about exciting business as he looks to solidify his status as the biggest name in sports.

Sean O’Malley is setting ambitious goals for his MMA career, aiming to become the biggest name in sports. What are your thoughts on athletes who openly express their aspirations for greatness?
