Rick Ross, the hip-hop heavyweight who once reigned supreme at Def Jam, recently spilled the beans on the label’s current predicament in a candid Rolling Stone interview. While discussing the potential of a new Def Jam: Fight for NY game, Ross didn’t hold back.

“I might have to do it. But Def Jam is damn near outta business, so it’ll have to be Maybach Music,” Ross quipped, reminiscing about the coolness of the game.

Rick Ross had a long history with Def Jam, but his last release with the label was the 2015 album “Black Market.” He subsequently made a move to Epic Records under the L.A. Reid regime. However, after dropping “Richer Than I Ever Been” in 2021, Rozay fulfilled his contract with Epic and decided to venture into the world as a free agent.

The buzz around Ross doesn’t end there. He and Meek Mill are set to release their highly anticipated joint album, “Too Good To Be True,” on November 10. The album will be distributed through Ross’s own Maybach Music Group and Apple veteran Larry Jackson’s Gamma media company.

During a stop at Complex’s “GOAT Talk,” Ross and Meek dropped a tantalizing hint that sent fans into a frenzy. When discussing their favorite Drake features, both artists heaped praise on the Canadian superstar and slyly alluded to a future collaboration.

“Meek Milly and Rozay, we’re big fans of the boy. Listen out for it on some of the new stuff that’s coming out very soon, you hear?” teased Meek. Ross chimed in, saying, “You better believe it.”

When it came to their favorite Drake feature, both Ross and Meek were on the same page. They singled out the 2012 track “Stay Schemin’,” a classic that has etched itself into hip-hop history.

“‘Stay Schemin” too, because I was a part of that,” Meek added, sharing a behind-the-scenes tidbit about the day he pulled up with his Ghost to meet Ross and Drake. It was a memorable encounter, as he had only crossed paths with Drake a couple of times prior.

With their joint album on the horizon and hints of a Drake collaboration in the mix, Rick Ross and Meek Mill are poised to keep the hip-hop world buzzing with excitement. Stay tuned to Thirsty for News for more musical fireworks from this dynamic duo!
