According to Netflix, “The Archies” is a musical set in the 1960s, viewed through the lens of the unique Anglo-Indian community. The film explores themes of friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak, and rebellion. The trailer showcases a classic Archie storyline, with Archie juggling relationships with Betty and Veronica while facing threats to a local park from Veronica’s father, who intends to build a hotel in town.
Director Zoya Akhtar expressed her excitement about bringing the world of Riverdale to a new generation, emphasizing the wholesome and clean young adult content of the adaptation. She also highlighted the significance of a global intellectual property choosing the Indian film industry for its first feature.
In “The Archies,” the teenagers of Riverdale decide to broadcast the music of The Archies through a pirate radio station after the adults tell them that resisting Lodge’s development plans is futile.
