Khabib Nurmagomedov will always be hailed as one of the best UFC fighters to have competed in the MMA world. His MMA career ended back in 2020 and since then has been enjoying his life in retirement. After he stopped being an active MMA competitor, Khabib focused on being a coach and running his own MMA promotion. However, now he disclosed turning down millions to return to the Octagon.
There was a lot of speculation when it came to his return to the UFC as he was still undefeated, with many believing he would come back to make his record an impressive 30-0. However, Dana White had confirmed he was truly done with competition.
Earlier this year, the Russian legend hinted at leaving the world of MMA for good following his retirement, but that wasn’t the case. While speaking to Daniel Cormier on UFC Fight Pass’ recent Ultimate 30 countdown, Khabib revealed he has turned down offers of up to 40 million dollars.
“When you’re the best fighter in the world, when you’re strong enough, when you have money, when you’re famous, it’s very hard to say no to all these things.
It’s very hard. It’s not easy. It’s not easy [to] just say no to 20, 30, 40 million dollars. But for myself, it’s not everything. This is not most important. It was not an easy decision, but if I decide, I decide. It’s finished. I leave this alone. I am happy and I never regret my decision. Never.”
Khabib had previously stated that he has no interest in continuing his career for money fights. Khabib is ultimately a family man and it seems he decided he wanted to spend more time with them and that is all that matters.
