James Gunn is making huge changes to DC and fans remain optimistic about this fact. It began earlier last year when it was revealed that Henry Cavill will no longer be playing Superman in future films now that the DCEU will be getting a full-blown reboot. Many felt Jacob Elordi would be in the role but that’s not the case. In fact, Elordi refused to audition for Superman in the first place.
Following Henry Cavill’s departure from Superman, many fans wondered who would end up donning the iconic red cape next. Rumors quickly spread that ‘Euphoria’ heartthrob Jacob Elordi would portray Superman. James Gunn shut down those rumors in a decisive fashion.
While speaking to GQ, Jacob Elordi talked about growing up admiring Heath Ledger and Christian Bale and enjoying their roles in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Batman’ movies. That said, Elordi revealed that he refused to audition for DC’s Superman as he felt it was too dark for him.
“They asked me to read for Superman. That was immediately, ‘No, thank you.’ That’s too much. That’s too dark for me.”
David Corenswet will be taking on the titular role of Superman in ‘Superman: Legacy,’ which is set to release on July 11, 2025 as planned. We will have to wait and see how the film will be received by fans and critics alike when it finally releases in 2025.
