Hank Hill and the gang are making a comeback, but it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer than expected.
Greg Daniels, co-creator of the beloved animated series “King of the Hill,” has dropped some hints to TV Line about the revival, and it seems like it won’t be hitting Hulu until around 2025.
“King of the Hill” originally wrapped up its 13-season run back in 2009, but the nostalgia bug has bitten hard, leading to the creation of a new revival series. Much like other classic animated shows making comebacks, this one has been highly anticipated by fans.
According to Daniels, the revival was in the works but hit a snag when strikes from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and SAG-AFTRA halted production. He revealed that they had already conducted table reads for two episodes, and everyone was excited about the project until the strikes occurred.
Now that the strikes are over, work has resumed on the “King of the Hill” revival. The team is currently in the process of rewriting the third or fourth episode and receiving notes on the first episode. While progress is being made, Daniels estimated that the series won’t make its debut on Hulu until “the beginning of 2025.”
Of course, this timeline is subject to change, and there are other important considerations to address. Johnny Hardwick, the voice actor for Dale Gribble, sadly passed away earlier in the year. He had reportedly completed voice work for only a “couple” of episodes for the revival. How the show will handle Hardwick’s absence remains a question mark.
Fans of “King of the Hill” will need to exercise some patience, but the good news is that the series is on its way back, bringing more of the humor and charm that made it a beloved classic. Stay tuned to Thirsty for News for updates as the revival continues to develop!
