R. Kelly used to be one of the most beloved singers at one point in time, but that is all in the past. His fall from grace is well-documented, as many women came forward and revealed what kind of person he really is. He also demanded $1 million over leaked phone calls that made their way to a blogger.
According to RadarOnline.com, the disgraced singer tried to negotiate a $1 million settlement from the U.S. Bureau of Prisons after his private information was allegedly leaked to blogger Tasha K.
This came to be known as part of the lawsuit filed on November 13, 2023, where R. Kelly claimed that an internal investigation by Special Agent Matt Loux of the Department of Justice’s Inspector General’s office uncovered illegal snooping into his prison records, emails, recorded phone conversations, and visitors’ logs by around 60 prison workers.
The lawsuit alleges that confidential information, obtained during this breach, found its way to Tasha K. The singer sought a $1 million settlement through the Federal Tort Claims Act but was rejected by the BOP.
The court documents reveal that R. Kelly filed a notice of claim on November 14, 2022, requesting the settlement but was denied by the North Central Regional Office of the Federal Bureau of Prisons in a letter dated June 15, 2023. The lawsuit, now seeking unspecified damages, contends that the leak caused emotional distress as R. Kelly felt restricted in freely communicating with his attorneys.
R. Kelly’s lawsuit claims that Tasha K received and utilized the leaked information on her gossip show, alleging that she obtained it from an anonymous source who had purchased it from an unknown BOP officer. Naturally, this legal situation is a big mess and only time will tell whether it will get resolved soon. We’ll keep you updated on this ongoing legal case.
