Brad Pitt is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the history of Hollywood, whose films continue to be a point of discussion for many. His personal life is also usually at the forefront thanks to his divorce from Angelina Jolie. That said, he has other projects to look forward to right now, especially the upcoming F1 movie. However, it appears the film will be forced to remove footage worth millions over shady sponsorship deals.
Brad Pitt’s upcoming Formula 1 movie is facing difficulties as questionable sponsorship deals may lead to the scrapping of hours of on-track footage. The movie, which is currently untitled, had initially resumed production after the conclusion of the actors’ strike. It even had Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton as a producer to give it that extra touch of realism.
The film had secured garage space at Silverstone in the UK and the Hungarian in Hungary for shooting, but the sponsorship-related complications are essentially ruining the usability of extensive footage.
According to a report from the Independent, changes in the film’s sponsorship deals, even after the actors’ strike concluded, have forced a reevaluation and an inevitable delay in its release. The altered sponsorship landscape could result in the rejection of pre-recorded footage, rendering the efforts of Brad Pitt and others a waste.
”But, despite the conclusion of the actors’ strike, which saw the SAG-AFTRA union protest contractual clauses related to royalties and the use of AI, it’s believed the film’s sponsorship deals have been forced to change, meaning its release has reportedly stalled.
This would mean that all pre-recorded footage is no longer permitted to be used, which would essentially render Pitt, Idris and director Kosinski’s time at Silverstone a waste of time.
According to The Sun, a source close to the project noted that the footage was now “defunct.” While certain shots featuring outdated sponsors may be edited out, there is still hope things will be resolved and filming can get back on track soon enough. We’ll have to wait and see what will become of the film in the end.
