Drake, the man who never sleeps in the studio, is back with yet another musical masterpiece! Just when you thought he might take a break, he’s here to prove us all wrong.
The Toronto superstar, who recently blessed us with his eighth studio album, “For All the Dogs,” in early October, just dropped the bombshell news that “Scary Hours 3” is about to hit the airwaves, and it’s landing in less than 24 hours! That’s right, folks, it’s dropping on Friday, November 17, at midnight.
Drake himself unveiled the news with an almost two-minute-long trailer on Instagram, featuring stunning shots of Toronto’s iconic Roy Thomson Hall. He doesn’t hold back when he talks about his ongoing creative streak, describing it as the most fertile period of his career.
In his own words, he says, “I feel no need to appease anybody,” exuding confidence in the body of work he just delivered. He even hints at the possibility of disappearing for a while, though he’s not a fan of long hiatuses just for the sake of mystery. Drake then candidly shares his feelings about this project, comparing it to the creative high he experienced with “If You’re Reading This…” He mentions creating these songs in just five days, right after the release of “For All the Dogs,” with not a single bar written down beforehand.
“It’s not like I’m picking up from some unfinished sh*t; it’s happening on its own,” he adds. “Who am I to fight it, right?”
The video takes an unexpected turn as it transitions to an orchestra, led by a conductor, playing dramatic music. It all culminates with a regal invitation that reads, “October’s Very Own & The Boy Present: Scary Hours 3. Executive Producers: Noel Cadastre, Aubrey Graham, Kevin Durant.”
“Scary Hours 3” is the latest installment in Drake’s EP series, which kicked off in 2018. The first release included the diamond-certified hit “God’s Plan” and “Diplomatic Immunity,” while 2021’s “Scary Hours 2” featured collaborations with Lil Baby and Rick Ross.
As for what’s in store this time, it’s still a mystery. We don’t know if big-name guests will join the party or how many songs will be on the EP. Drake likes to keep us on our toes!
This surprise drop comes as a shock to many, especially considering that Drake had recently hinted at taking a break from music to focus on his health. He mentioned stomach issues that have plagued him for years and the need to address his well-being first. But hey, when the creative fire burns, it’s hard to resist.
And that’s not all, folks! Drake is also gearing up for a joint tour with none other than J. Cole, set to kick off early next year. The “It’s All a Blur — Big As the What? Tour” promises to take these hip-hop heavyweights to smaller cities in the U.S. from January 18 to March 27. It looks like 2024 is shaping up to be another unforgettable year in Drake’s world. Stay tuned for “Scary Hours 3” and more surprises from this musical juggernaut!
