Drake has dropped the mic once again, and this time, it’s in the deluxe edition of his For All the Dogs album, titled “Scary Hours Edition.” The Toronto rapper didn’t hold back and threw some major shade at Kanye West, reigniting their ongoing feud.
On the opening track, “Red Button,” Drake doesn’t mince words as he takes aim at Kanye and their turbulent friendship. He calls out Kanye’s attempts to mend their relationship as nothing more than a facade, rapping, “Every time that Yeezy call the truce, he had my head inflated/Thinkin’ we gon’ finally peace it up and get to levitatin’/Realize that everything premeditated.”
This lyrical punch comes after years of tension between the two hip-hop heavyweights. Their feud started five years ago when Kanye offered Drake the “Lift Yourself” beat but then released the track with bizarre lyrics like “Poopy-dee scoop/Scoop-diddy-whoop,” leaving Drake baffled. The beef escalated with Pusha T’s “Infrared” and Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle,” leading to the infamous “The Story of Adidon” diss track that revealed Drake’s secret child.
In 2021, they seemingly buried the hatchet with a photo on Instagram, and they were even seen having dinner together at Drake’s house. However, Drake’s new lyrics in “Circo Loco” hint that he may have only made amends for Rap-A-Lot Records founder J Prince.
Kanye, on the other hand, had his own say in the feud on Drink Champs, where he praised Drake as the “greatest rapper ever” but also accused him of exploiting rumors about an affair with Kanye’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.
The Drake vs. Kanye saga continues, and hip-hop fans are left wondering if this feud will ever see a real resolution. Stay tuned to Thirsty for News for more juicy drama in the rap game!
