Good news for all you Beetlejuice fans out there! Despite concerns about delays, it seems Beetlejuice 2 is revving up and back on track to meet its original September 2024 release date.

With the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) strikes officially behind us, numerous projects are finally resuming production and getting ready to hit the big screen. Warner Bros. had previously contemplated postponing Beetlejuice 2, but the latest reports suggest that the film is now back in action, currently filming in Melrose.

According to a report from Boston’s CBS affiliate, WBZ News, certain blocks in the neighborhood around West Emerson and Charles streets have undergone a Halloween-themed transformation. Crews, cables, and production trucks have descended upon the area, indicating that filming is in full swing and expected to continue at least until Friday. This particular neighborhood had been previously utilized for filming before the SAG-AFTRA strike temporarily halted production.

So, who’s on board for this highly anticipated sequel? Michael Keaton is reprising his iconic role as Beetlejuice, joined by Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz. Plus, the movie boasts some exciting new additions to the cast, including Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci. Tim Burton, the mastermind behind the original film, is back in the director’s chair for this long-awaited sequel and recently gave fans a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come.

In an interview with the Independent, Burton spoke about the unique journey of his career and the return to the Beetlejuice universe: “Honestly, I don’t really know, because I am really not that good at talking or speaking or trying to sell something, so to speak. Looking back, it’s a very, very strange journey that I can’t quite explain… On this last one, Beetlejuice 2, I really enjoyed it. I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies.”

Michael Keaton, who’s thrilled to be back as Beetlejuice, added his own excitement, saying, “Beetlejuice is the most f*ckin’ fun you can have working… It’s the most fun I’ve had working on a movie in I can’t tell you how long.”

So, mark your calendars and get ready for the return of Beetlejuice on September 6, 2024, because it looks like the afterlife’s favorite mischievous ghost is coming back to haunt your screens in style!
