“The Garfield Movie” is back on track after production delays caused by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes.

While Garfield himself may be known for his laid-back demeanor, actor Chris Pratt is hard at work bringing the iconic character to life.

Pratt took to social media on Tuesday to share a behind-the-scenes photo of himself back at work as the voice of Garfield. The delays have been resolved, and production is in full swing once again.

The film’s official synopsis reads, “Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.”

The star-studded cast includes Chris Pratt as Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Nicholas Hoult, Hannah Waddingham, Cecily Strong, Ving Rhames, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang. Pratt has lent his voice to several popular animated films, including “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” which was a major box office hit in the current year.

Directed by Mark Dindal, known for his work on Disney classics like “The Emperor’s New Groove” and “Chicken Little,” and featuring a screenplay by Paul A. Kaplan, David Reynolds, and Mark Torgrove, “The Garfield Movie” is based on Jim Davis’s iconic comic strip that first appeared in 1978.

While fans may remember the previous Garfield films starring Bill Murray, released in 2004 and 2006, this new adaptation promises a fresh take on the beloved character. “The Garfield Movie” is set to hit theaters in the summer of 2024.
