Is Machine Gun Kelly, the rap sensation whose real name is Colson Baker, considering a name change? The artist, known for his edgy stage name, dropped a hint at the GQ Men of the Year Party that left fans speculating.
While posing on the red carpet, the 33-year-old musician asked photographers to simply refer to him as “Machine” instead of “Machine Gun Kelly.” He even took to Instagram with a post captioned, “🗣️ ‘machine’.”
This isn’t the first time MGK’s stage name has raised eyebrows. Approximately a year ago, TikTok duo Chad and JT held up a sign at one of his concerts that read, “change your name!!!” In response, MGK expressed confusion, stating, “I have no idea what that sign means.” The duo clarified that their request stemmed from a desire not to glorify machine guns.
Despite the recent hint, reports suggest that MGK won’t be dropping “Gun Kelly” from his stage name and will continue performing as Machine Gun Kelly. However, he might just prefer photographers to call him “Machine” moving forward.
What are your thoughts on Machine Gun Kelly’s decision to ask photographers to call him “Machine” instead of “Machine Gun” at the recent GQ Men of the Year Party? Do you think he will actually change his stage name in the future? Leave us a comment.
