The music industry is grappling with disturbing allegations of sexual abuse and harassment against two prominent figures, Jimmy Iovine and Harve Pierre.

According to Pitchfork, a newly-filed summons in the Supreme Court of the State of New York County details accusations against Jimmy Iovine.

The lawsuit, filed by a woman known only as Jane Doe, alleges assault and battery, as well as violations of the New York City Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act and the New York City Human Right Law. Doe claims that she was “sexually abused, forcibly touched, and subjected to sexual harassment and retaliation” in August 2007.

A spokesperson for Iovine expressed shock and disbelief at the summons, stating that they had never heard of the matter before and that no one had previously made such a claim against him. Although a summons has been filed, a lawsuit is expected to follow.

These allegations come at a time when the music industry is facing a wave of sexual harassment and abuse lawsuits targeting industry executives. Shortly before the news regarding Jimmy Iovine broke, Harve Pierre, the former president of Diddy’s Bad Boy Records, was sued by his ex-assistant for sexual assault.

The lawsuit accuses Pierre of grooming and sexually assaulting the female employee in the mid-2010s, leading to physical, emotional, and psychological injuries. The alleged victim is seeking punitive damages and fair compensation. Bad Boy Entertainment, Bad Boy Records, and Combs Enterprises are also named as co-defendants in the suit, accused of negligence and gender violence for failing to properly supervise Pierre. Notably, Diddy himself is not named as a co-defendant.

In response to the lawsuit against Pierre, a Bad Boy spokesperson stated that they had recently become aware of the lawsuit and were investigating the allegations. They emphasized that the allegations were from many years ago and had not been brought to the company’s attention until now, and neither the plaintiff nor the executive involved were current employees.

These allegations are shaking the music industry to its core, and investigations and legal proceedings are ongoing. The safety and well-being of all parties involved are of utmost importance as these cases unfold.
