Cardi B and Offset just had a seriously sketchy run-in with a dude posing as a journalist outside their plush Atlanta digs, and it got so dicey they had to dial up the cops.
In a viral video that made the rounds on Thursday (November 23), some unidentified guy can be seen trying to film the power couple’s residence in the upscale Atlanta neighborhood of Sandy Springs.
The security squad stationed at the mansion initially asked him to beat it — with one guard even going the extra mile by blocking the dude’s camera lens. But this unwelcome intruder wasn’t having it and continued to film. That’s when the security detail decided to give the local law enforcement a ring.
When the cops showed up, Mr. Fake Journalist insisted that he’s got the right to do his thing, citing the First Amendment and all that jazz. He even had the gall to threaten the officer with digging up his personal info because it’s supposedly public record. Talk about audacity!
The so-called “journalist” (and we use that term lightly) hasn’t been ID’d yet, but he was ultimately given the boot by the police.
Now, here’s the tea on the legal front: According to the Reporter’s Committee for the Freedom of the Press, the First Amendment only covers recording government officials doing their thing in public places. It doesn’t extend to filming private property or celebrities who ain’t out in the public eye. In Georgia, it’s also a no-no to use a camera “without the consent of all persons observed, to observe, photograph, or record the activities of another which occur in any private place and out of public view,” according to Ga. Code Ann. § 16-11-62(2).
As of now, it’s a mystery whether this fake journalist is in cuffs, whether he’s gonna face charges for his little trespassing adventure, or if Cardi B and Offset are gonna unleash their legal eagles on him.
And if that wasn’t enough drama for Cardi B, she’s making headlines for another legal tiff for the second day in a row. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper is ready to throw down the gauntlet after her voice got cloned in a stimulus scam video.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday (November 22), Cardi shared the clip that featured an AI version of her voice promoting “free” money. “Yo it’s ya girl Cardi and I’ma show you how to put $16,000 in your pocket right now for free!” the AI Cardi says in the clip. “So pay attention! The state’s handing out these stacks to every single one of y’all. You don’t even need a job! It’s all part of a stimulus-style program to help Americans get back on their feet. They’re sending out these health spending cards re-loaded with that green every single month!”
Cardi didn’t mince words in her retweet, saying: “AI is crazy smh….another lawsuit that fell right on my lap…I love easy money.”
