The organizers behind Taylor Swift’s recent concert in Brazil are facing a serious investigation following the tragic death of a fan, Ana Clara Benevides Machado, 23, just before the performance began in Rio de Janeiro last week.

According to Radaronline, Brazilian authorities have launched an inquiry into Time4Fun, the concert organizers, on allegations of “the crime of endangering the life and health” of the nearly 60,000 attendees.

The Civil Police Department of Rio de Janeiro’s consumer delegations department initiated the probe, albeit not directly linked to Machado’s untimely passing. A spokesperson from the department confirmed that event organizers would be summoned to testify, and further steps would be taken to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This investigation coincided with Time4Fun CEO Serafim Abreu issuing an apology video in which he expressed regret to all those who didn’t have the best experience at Taylor Swift’s Rio de Janeiro performance. Abreu acknowledged the immense responsibility of organizing such a massive event and claimed they spared no effort or resources to ensure the comfort and safety of all attendees. He also conceded that alternative measures, like providing more shaded areas for the record-high temperatures, could have been taken to enhance the concertgoers’ experience.

As previously reported, Ana Clara Benevides Machado suffered cardiac arrest on November 17, shortly before Swift’s first of three Eras Tour performances in Rio de Janeiro. The concert proceeded despite sweltering temperatures reaching 138 degrees Fahrenheit, and Swift had to postpone the subsequent show due to the extreme heat.

In response to Machado’s passing, Taylor Swift expressed her overwhelming grief and sorrow, emphasizing that she couldn’t believe she was sharing the news of a fan’s loss. She described Machado as beautiful and too young, extending her condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Swift’s tour in Brazil is set to continue with three more shows scheduled in São Paulo, where fans will reportedly be permitted to bring their own water to combat the ongoing heatwave in the region.
