Fans of the popular 90s sketch comedy show “All That” and the hit movie “Good Burger” were in for a treat after the sequel to ‘Good Burger’ was announced this year. The sequel has finally dropped and interestingly enough, it had a cameo from Sinbad.
The film sees Thompson’s character, Dexter Reed, reunite with the original cashier Ed at the Good Burger fast food restaurant in present day, where they will work alongside a fresh-faced group of employees.
While it was known in advance that Josh Server, Lori Beth Denberg, and Carmen Electra would be returning to their ‘Good Burger’ roles, the inclusion of Sinbad’s character, Mr. Wheat, was a welcome surprise for audiences. Sinbad played a crucial role in the first ‘Good Burger’ film as the high school teacher whose car accident with Kenan Thompson’s character more or less began the story.
In Good Burger 2, Sinbad’s cameo is a very subtle one as he doesn’t appear in person. He lends his voice to the character of Mr. Wheat, who informs Dex over the phone that he is out of business.
While speaking to /Film in an interview, ‘Good Burger’ screenwriter Kevin Kopelow confirmed that a larger cameo featuring Sinbad was originally planned for the sequel. The original concept involved a callback to the first film, with Mr. Wheat’s car being hit once again, bringing the storyline full circle.
“When [Kel] backed into the car [early in the movie], he was going to pull away and Sinbad was going to be the driver.”
Sadly, due to scheduling and location constraints during the filming of ‘Good Burger 2,’ the full scene never materialized. Regardless, fans can still check out ‘Good Burger 2’ on Paramount+ and have a great time.
