Margot Robbie is undoubtedly one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood right now, thanks to her roles in many films such as ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,’ ‘Suicide Squad’ and even more recently – ‘Barbie.’ However, Robbie has now dashed the hopes for a sequel to the film.
Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ broke several records as it earned an astounding $1.4 billion at the Box Office. Due to its major success and Mattel branding, it was all but confirmed a sequel was going to happen.
While speaking to AP Entertainment, Margot Robbie was asked about a sequel to the highly successful ‘Barbie.’ While she didn’t necessarily rule out a sequel, she did end up dashing hopes for one as well. Robbie made it clear that when they made the first film, they didn’t have any sequels planned at all.
“I think we put everything into this one. We didn’t build it to be a trilogy or something. It was like Greta put everything into this movie, so I can’t imagine what would be next.”
This is certainly disappointing news for fans who desperately wanted a sequel to ‘Barbie’ and perhaps even a whole franchise. Regardless, Margot Robbie has moved on to other projects and that’s what she cares about.
