Todd Chrisley is no stranger to legal troubles at this point. The real-estate tycoon was sentenced to 12 years in prison and 16 months on probation, while his wife Julie received a seven-year prison sentence. However, both of their sentences have been reused somewhat and despite rumors of them getting a divorce, the two are still going strong.
According to TMZ, contrary to recent reports suggesting Todd and Julie Chrisley will divorce, their attorney Jay Surgent vehemently denied any such intention. In fact, he stated that the couple’s love has only strengthened during their challenging times.
Surgent refutes claims that Julie is considering ending the marriage, countering an unnamed source quoted by the Daily Mail. According to the attorney, divorce is the last thing on the Chrisleys’ minds.
The attorney emphasized that Todd and Julie Chrisley find strength in their shared faith and believe that the criminal justice system will ultimately ensure justice prevails for them. Their conviction last year in a bank fraud and tax evasion trial led to Todd Chrisley’s 12-year sentence being reduced to 10, and Julie Chrisley’s 7-year sentence being reduced to 6. Todd Chrisley’s legal team is actively working to reverse his conviction.
Despite spending their first holiday season behind bars, Todd Chrisley’s attorney made it clear that Julie is staying strong in prison and draws strength from their marriage, contrary to reports portraying her as “broken and hopeless.” Surgent dismisses claims that Todd coerced Julie Chrisley into a supposed “foolproof” plan, further adding that she has consistently maintained her limited involvement in the business affairs of their company and had no idea about their financial advisors’ actions.
Todd’s daughter, Savannah, has alleged that her father is facing retaliation in prison for speaking out about living conditions at Florida’s FPC Pensacola. Todd’s attorney contends that he should be commended, not criticized, for bringing attention to these issues and advocating for better conditions. Regardless, only time will tell what will become of the Chrisley couple, as things don’t look good for them right now.
