Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill was arrested in Michigan for domestic violence earlier this week. According to records, Hill was booked at a Kent County jail on Monday at around 1 AM and released later that evening. The 32-year-old fighter was formally charged with one count of misdemeanor aggravated domestic violence.
The court documents obtained by TMZ Sports allege that Hill assaulted James Anthony Hill Jr., causing “serious or aggravated injury upon him.” While it’s unclear if the two individuals are related, the documents state that James is “a resident or former resident” of Jamahal’s household.
Further details regarding the allegations have not been immediately available. Hill is scheduled to appear in court in January for a hearing on the matter. It was added that James Anthony Hill Jr. is Jamahal Hill’s brother.
Jamahal Hill recently earned the UFC light heavyweight title in January with a victory over Glover Teixeira at UFC 283. However, he had to relinquish the title in July after rupturing his Achilles while playing basketball.
Once healed, Hill is expected to have another opportunity to regain his belt in a fight against the current division champion, Alex Pereira. We’ll keep you updated on this ongoing story.
