Robert Downey Jr. gained recognition all over the world due to his role as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His final appearance as Iron Man was at Avengers: Endgame, after which fans wondered whether he would ever return to Marvel again. However, it seems that will not be happening as Kevin Feige confirmed himself.
Recently, rumors that Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe dominated headlines. While Downey appeared to have moved on from the Iron Man mantle, he never firmly closed the door on the character’s return.
While speaking to Vanity Fair, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked about bringing back Robert Downey Jr. as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige made it clear he will not be returning to the franchise.
“We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again. We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”
It is certainly sad to see that Robert Downey Jr. will not be making his return as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Regardless, the MCU will move forward with their plans and that’s all that matters.
