Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill was arrested in Michigan for domestic violence earlier last week. He is now facing serious allegations of a violent altercation with his brother last month, resulting in the loss of a tooth.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by TMZ Sports, the incident took place on November 25 in the Kentwood area of Michigan. The documents reveal that James Hill Jr., the brother of Jamahal, reported from a local hospital that he had been assaulted by Jamahal following an argument.
Allegedly, Jamahal punched his brother, causing him to fall to the ground. When James attempted to get up, Jamahal reportedly struck him again, leading to another fall. Police records describe James’ injuries, stating that his face and left eye were severely swollen after the alleged attack. On top of that, officers noted that James was “missing a front tooth that he stated got broke when Jamahal assaulted him.”
In response to the incident, Jamahal Hill was arrested on November 27 and formally charged with one count of aggravated domestic violence. He is scheduled for a court hearing on the matter in the coming month.
In a video released by Jamahal on Saturday, the 32-year-old refrained from discussing the details of the arrest, mentioning that he had been advised not to speak on the matter.
“I just can’t wait for the truth to be told in court and I will wait for that day and I look forward to that day.
The people who know me and know my character and truly, truly rock with me and know who I am, hold on to that and stay true to that and yeah, that’s all I’m gonna say on that.”
Jamahal Hill recently earned the UFC light heavyweight title in January with a victory over Glover Teixeira at UFC 283. However, he had to relinquish the title in July after rupturing his Achilles while playing basketball. We will have to wait and see what will become of Hill in the end.
