The Weeknd is certainly one of the most established singers in the modern music industry. This is largely due to the themes shown in his albums, notably his After Hours album. Now it appears that he will be a major part of Fortnite’s new Festival game mode.
In addition to a successful tour this year, The Weeknd is set to make a groundbreaking appearance in the virtual world of Fortnite. Following Eminem’s recent performance in Fortnite’s end-of-chapter event, a new game mode titled Fortnite Festival has been introduced, with The Weeknd slated as the inaugural performer. The event is scheduled for Saturday, December 9th, offering fans an immersive experience.
The most interesting aspect of this collaboration lies in the development of the experience by Harmonix, the creators of Rock Band. Players will have the chance to engage with the performance by tapping buttons on their controllers to play along with The Weeknd’s songs. The game mode offers flexibility, allowing players to participate solo or form a band, presenting a whole different experience from the classic Battle Royale format.
Fortnite continues to innovate by introducing a Lego mode to the game, showcasing its evolution beyond a traditional gaming platform. The Weeknd’s collaboration with Fortnite represents the best of both worlds – of gaming and music, so we’ll have to wait and see how the collaboration will turn out.
